LUCK BY CHANCE - Review

An exceptional movie about The Hindi Film Industry, which reveals the true colours of people engaged in it and a guide for those who wants to be a part of it.

Luck By Chance. A film about Indian Film Industry. More precise? Well, A film about Indian Film Industry. Yes. That would be the right definition for this master piece. Though the story revolves around struggling actors but I would still call it a movie about our Film Industry and not about struggling actors. This is because it not only shows the journey of a struggler but also shows how people are at different levels in the industry. Why the title Luck By Chance? Well, you have to see the movie for that. Though you might as well guess if you are familiar with the Hindi Film Industry. Many things happen just by sheer luck in the industry. So, as the movie is about the industry, hence, the title.

As always, I am not going to reveal the story so don’t expect me to change my idea in this review too. Well, yes the film is about a struggling actor and a starlet. But that’s not the only thing in the movie. Infact you can say that is a part of the story. The other part of the story reveals the dark side of the industry. How sweet people are in front of you and how they change once you step out of the door. It also shows how every person projects himself as the maker of everything though the scene is opposite in most of the cases. These things are shown brilliantly. The best part is that in some sequences it is exposed in a very comic way. It shows how things work inside the industry and what all you have to do to become successful in this field. Well, put a brake on your wild thoughts if you are thinking that it’s about sex and that is the only key to success in the industry. It is not only about that. You really have to struggle if you want to be something in the industry and it is not that simple. The director has tried to show what all a struggler goes through before becoming successful. And most importantly how the people in the industry behave with each other and how smartly they manipulate things for their benefit. If Page3 showcased the truth behind Mumbai’s limelight then Luck By Chance shows you the glimpse of The Hindi Film Industry. It is the best guide for a person who is a struggler and I am sure that every struggler in Mumbai will like this movie and he can definitely relate himself or his real life situation with the sequences in the movie.

About the star cast? Commendable performances. To being with I must say that first time ever you will find Mr. Rishi Kapoor in a very different role with excellent performance. Apart from that, Konkona was brilliant as usual, Farhan improved as an actor (exceptionally), Isha such an adorable child and very flexible actor, Sanjay Kapoor finally a great performance, he should have tried this earlier and above all Dimple Kapadia, again in a very different and incredible role. I am feeling bad for Juhi. Not because she doesn’t acted well but because her role is too short and sometimes you don’t even remember that she is in the film. Finally, all the big faces of Indian Film Industry justified their acts but over here too King Khan’s performance is amazing and very “hatke” and very special from all. His part has turned the film completely in a new direction.

Though I admit that some may find the movie bit slow in between but overall it’s an excellent and unique creation on the film industry. After all those over hyped, much publicized, no story, dumb movies you will definitely see a movie with some sense. It has a perfect story line which goes smoothly and nothing out of world happens suddenly to surprise you. The story does revolve around the reality of the industry with minor fiction work which is required for a commercial movie. Besides that, the songs of the movie have also written very well. Every line has a meaning behind that, unlike what we are hearing these days. To complement it, Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio has given superb music. Above all, considering this Zoya Akhtar’s first movie, she has done tremendously well. I am sure she would have learnt a lot while making the movie and will continue to learn till the time she is here. All the Luck and Best wishes to her.

No stars or ratings. That’s not my style (as previously explained).

Hey Guys. I am on top of the world as the theatrical trailer of "Luck By Chance" has just been released today. Its a theatrical trailer, so you can only see it in theaters between different movies. Right now it will come in between "Yuvraaj". So dare you leave your seats in the interval & Dare you reach late for the movie(coz d promo can come anytime-either at start or in between). Okay Okay...I GOT U. U must be thinking that why am I excited(over excited) for that? What's the link? Am I getting paid for that? ha ha... Nothing like that guys.

Well... The reason is that this is the first film I am associated with. Yes. Though it was a very minor association but still as it is the one and only direct association (till now) I have with Bollywood, therefore, I am extremely excited. My friend Arun Chauhan has much bigger role in this film as he has assisted Arjun Bhasin & Aparna (Fashion Designers & Stylists) in the movie. I am praying for this movie to be a mega hit and I am sure it will be. I have just watched the trailer and it has come out brilliantly. Perfect mix of commercial & real cinema. The only thing I can tell you at this moment about the movie is that it is about Bollywood and you will see almost every BIG face of Bollywood in this movie(& may be first time in history - 3 Khans in one film). That is it. I am not going to tell you anything else otherwise I will be violating the copyright. ;-)

The release date is 30/01/2009. And untill the full view enjoy this preview. Do remmember to post your comments under this blog about the theatrical preview of the movie.
